On the Etournelles path

On the Etournelles path

The Etournelles path is among one of the nicest paths of Salève. It is, in fact, the upper section of Chavardon path. This last changes its name as it leaves Cirque des Etournelles.

Even if the whole region is magnificent, the paths crossing it are aerial and are requiring attention. The picture itself is evocative. It shows the trickiest section of the path where a cable had to be attached these last years, because of a collapse that started from Corraterie.

A nice diversion is about climbing from the Etournelles path to the foot of the rock wall that can be seen in the picture. One then can circumvent to the right this wall and climb the slopes up to the Corraterie.
