The long hike that is to of follow the top of Salève along the Etraz path provides some very nice views onto the mountain and the plain.
One claims that this path is very old and dates even back to the Romans time. I am not really surprised. For the rest, it is interesting to follow the municipal border near Grotte du Diable. When one does that, one follows an old road were bordering stones can still be seen. It is cut by the new paved road.
Then, the path along the crest passes nearby Piollière Cromlech, another mysterious place of this mountain.
This picture shows the Salève not far from Chavannes. In the background one sees the crest covered with trees of the Pitons.
